Kim Ng Departs Marlins After Declining 2024 Option

Kim Ng is leaving her position as general manager of the Miami Marlins after three seasons. Ng, who became the first woman GM in the four major North American professional sports leagues, declined her mutual option for the 2024 season. Marlins principal owner Bruce Sherman stated that they will begin a search for new leadership as they plan to continue investing in the organization. Ng cited a misalignment in vision for the front office as the reason for her departure. During her tenure, the Marlins made their first postseason appearance since 2003 and reached the playoffs in the shortened 2020 season. Ng is expected to be linked to the front office opening with the Boston Red Sox.
