Twitter's Legal Battle: Threatening Lawsuits Against Nonprofit and Anti-Hate Organizations

X Corp., formerly known as Twitter, has threatened to sue the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), a British research nonprofit, alleging that the CCDH made false and misleading assertions about Twitter and conspired to drive advertisers away from the platform. The threat comes after CCDH research found that X Corp. failed to act on a significant percentage of hate speech, including anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim hate speech, on the social media platform. This is one of several legal threats or actions taken by X Corp. in recent months, including a letter to Microsoft alleging unauthorized use of Twitter data and a lawsuit against Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz over a buyout dispute.
