Rep. George Santos hit with 23-count indictment, including identity theft and credit card fraud

Federal prosecutors on Long Island have filed new criminal charges against Rep. George Santos, accusing him of stealing people's identities, making unauthorized charges on his donors' credit cards, and lying to federal election officials. The charges include wire fraud, making false statements to the Federal Election Commission, falsifying records, aggravated identity theft, and access device fraud. Santos is also accused of fabricating or stealing campaign loans and contributions to inflate reported receipts. Last week, his former campaign finance chief was indicted for allegedly enlisting family members to donate without their knowledge. Santos has pleaded not guilty to previous charges and has stated that he will not step down.
