Celeste Maloy, Former GOP Aide, Wins Utah House Special Election

Former GOP congressional aide Celeste Maloy has won the special election in Utah's 2nd District, becoming the first woman in Utah's congressional delegation since 2019 and the fifth in its history. Maloy, who emphasized curbing inflation and government overreach, prevailed in the primary despite being relatively unknown to voters. Her win was not surprising given the district's makeup, which includes Democratic-leaning Salt Lake City and rural areas. Maloy's victory brings the House back to its full complement of 435 members.
