Tragic Alaska Landslide Claims One Life, Leaves Others Missing

One person has died and at least seven others are believed to be missing after a large landslide struck a remote community in southeast Alaska. The landslide, estimated to be about 450ft wide, occurred near Wrangell, destroying three homes and cutting off access and power to approximately 75 homes. Authorities are using cadaver-sniffing dogs and heat-sensing drones to search for additional victims, but the unstable and hazardous conditions have hindered rescue efforts. The community is rallying together, and the state has declared a disaster in Wrangell.
