Rhodes Wildfires: Evacuations and Tourist Exodus

The Greek island of Rhodes, known for its beaches and historic sites, is facing wildfires that have led to the evacuation of thousands of residents and tourists. With a population of about 125,000 people, Rhodes is the ninth largest island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It was once under the rule of the Knights of the Order of Saint John and is home to a well-preserved medieval town and castle, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
