Pharmacy Workers Stage Nationwide Walkout Over Working Conditions

Employees at CVS and Walgreens pharmacies across the United States have initiated a three-day walkout to protest harsh working conditions that compromise their ability to safely fill prescriptions and potentially endanger the health of customers. Although the majority of Walgreens and CVS employees are not unionized, the walkouts have gained momentum with at least 25 store closures reported. Organizers have received support from unions and have set up a GoFundMe page to provide financial assistance to workers participating in the walkout. The walkouts come at a busy time for pharmacy chains as the demand for vaccinations increases during the cold and flu season.
