Detroit Casino Workers Join Metro Detroit Workers in Strike for Better Pay and Benefits

Thousands of Detroit casino workers have gone on strike after negotiations between the casinos and unions representing the workers failed to reach a new labor agreement. The Detroit Casino Council, representing 3,700 workers across five unions, is seeking better wages and benefits. The unions claim that workers need significant raises to keep up with inflation and oppose the casino management's proposal to increase healthcare costs. The strike is the first at the Detroit casinos since they opened in the late 1990s and 2000.
