"Understanding the White Lung Pneumonia Outbreak in Ohio: Signs, Symptoms, and Prevention"

Warren County Health District in Ohio has reported an increase in pneumonia cases among children, with 145 cases reported since August. The main pathogens detected include streptococcus pneumoniae, adenovirus, and mycoplasma pneumoniae, the latter of which is currently spreading in China and Denmark. While the illnesses are not unusual, the district has classified it as an "outbreak" due to above-average case volumes. Similar cases have been seen in China and Denmark. The rise in cases among Chinese children could be related to Covid-19 restrictions being lifted, according to the WHO. Mycoplasma pneumonia is a bacteria that can cause mild infections, with symptoms including cough, fever, fatigue, sore throat, and headaches. Most cases can be treated with antibiotics, but severe cases may require hospital attention.
