Netflix Axes 'Shadow and Bone' and Four Other Shows Amid Strike Impact

Netflix has decided to cancel the fantasy series "Shadow and Bone" after two seasons, despite having finished scripts for a spinoff. The cancellation comes as Netflix reassesses its output following the resolution of the writers' and actors' strikes. Author Leigh Bardugo, whose books provided the source material, expressed her disappointment but also gratitude for the adaptation. The show, which premiered in April 2021, introduced the kingdom of Ravka and its inhabitants, including the protagonist Alina Starkhov, a Sun Summoner with the ability to dispel the Shadow Fold. The cancellation also affects other Netflix shows, including "Glamorous," "Agent Elvis," "Farzar," and "Captain Fall."
