Wisconsin Woman Convicted of Murder Using Eyedrops

A Wisconsin woman, Jessy R. Kurczewski, has been found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide for fatally poisoning her friend with eyedrops. Kurczewski, who was listed as a beneficiary in the victim's will, was convicted of killing Lynn Hernan by administering a fatal dose of tetrahydrozoline. She was also found guilty of felony theft for stealing from Hernan. Kurczewski initially claimed that Hernan had overdosed on eyedrops, but later alleged that she had committed suicide. The jury and judge ultimately sided with the prosecution's argument that Kurczewski killed Hernan out of greed to defraud her of nearly $300,000. Kurczewski's sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 7.
