Federico Klein, a former Donald Trump political appointee at the State Department, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for storming the Capitol and assaulting law enforcement officers on January 6. Klein, who was convicted of eight felonies and misdemeanor offenses, had been seeking continued employment as a political appointee. He was the subject of a government request for a 10-year prison term. Klein's actions included wedging a police riot shield in between doors to allow rioters to continue their assaults on police. This is one of the longest sentences handed out in connection with the January 6 attack, with over 1,100 people arrested and more than 400 receiving terms of incarceration.
