Kidnapped Texas Teen Rescued in California Thanks to 'Help Me' Sign

A 13-year-old girl from Texas was rescued in California after waving a "help me" note to passersby while allegedly being kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and taken on a road trip. Steven Robert Sablan, 61, of Cleburne, Texas, has been charged with kidnapping and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. The victim complied with Sablan's demands after he threatened her with a gun and sexually assaulted her during the journey. The girl managed to write a distress note while her attacker was occupied and caught the attention of a witness who called the police. Sablan was arrested, and the victim was safely rescued.
