Investigation underway: Maine gunman's brain sent for analysis to determine potential Army service-related damage

The brain tissue of Robert Card, the gunman responsible for killing 18 people in Maine, has been sent to a lab in Massachusetts to determine if his military service in the Army Reserves caused any brain injury or trauma that may have contributed to his violent behavior. The state's chief medical examiner wants to thoroughly investigate Card's military history and actions to shed light on his unusual behavior leading up to the shootings. Card's exposure to repeated blasts during training at West Point, as well as his paranoid and delusional behavior, raised concerns among his fellow soldiers. However, laws regarding the removal of weapons for individuals experiencing mental health crises were not invoked in this case.
