"Child Fatality and Drug Bust: NYPD Discovers Trap Door and Hidden Drugs at Bronx Day Care"

Investigators searching the Bronx day care where a 1-year-old died and three other children were injured from fentanyl exposure discovered a trap door in the play area floor containing a large quantity of fentanyl, other narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. The day care owner and her tenant, who are charged with murder, were found to have stored a kilo of fentanyl on playmats and possessed a device to press drugs into bricks for sale. The defendants attempted to cover up the overdoses, and the husband of the day care owner remains at large. The two defendants are also facing federal drug trafficking charges and are currently in custody.
