Chicago's Mayors Address Teen Chaos in the Loop

Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson condemned the chaotic "Teen Takeover" of the Loop over the weekend, which saw hundreds of young people descend on the downtown area for two nights in a row. Two teenage males were shot while standing in a crowd during the mayhem on Saturday night. Johnson warned against vilifying youth while condemning the incident and said that it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities. Chicago police arrested nine adults and six juveniles in connection with the takeover, which was advertised on social media.
