Air National Guardsman indicted for mishandling classified defense info in leaked documents case.
A member of the U.S. Air National Guard stationed in Massachusetts, Jack Douglas Teixeira, has been indicted on six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information relating to the national defense. Teixeira allegedly retained and transmitted classified national defense information on a social media platform beginning in or around 2022 and continuing until his arrest in April. He was granted a Top Secret security clearance in 2021. Each charge of unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
