Kai Zhuang, a 17-year-old Chinese foreign exchange student, was found safe near Brigham City, Utah, after being reported kidnapped on Dec. 28. His parents in China had received a ransom demand, leading to a multi-agency search involving the FBI. Zhuang was a victim of "cyber kidnapping," a scheme where kidnappers manipulate students into isolating themselves and extort money from their families by creating the illusion of danger. Zhuang was found cold and scared in a tent without a heat source, and the search continues for the cyber kidnappers. Riverdale Police advise against paying cyber kidnappers and recommend contacting authorities immediately.
