Israeli-Palestinian Tensions Escalate with Deadly Confrontations

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used airpower in the West Bank twice this week, including a drone strike on a car carrying three Palestinian gunmen from Jenin, marking the first such deadly airstrike on Palestinians in the West Bank since 2006. The use of airpower indicates Israel is looking to change the rules of the game when it comes to fighting Palestinian terror, after Palestinian armed groups ramped up terror attacks and more heavily resisted Israeli operations. The northern West Bank, and especially the city of Jenin and its environs, have long been considered hotbeds of terrorism.
