"GM Strike Resolved: Unifor and General Motors Reach Agreement, Ending Canadian Plant Disruptions"

Unifor, the union representing Canadian autoworkers, and General Motors have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, putting the strike on hold. The deal includes wage increases of about 20% for production workers and 25% for skilled trades over the three-year agreement, along with other gains. The agreement must still be ratified by union members. This follows Unifor's previous agreement with Ford Motor Co. last month. The strike at GM facilities in Canada left the company with "no choice but to get serious at the bargaining table," according to Unifor National President Lana Payne. The deal allows GM to avoid work stoppages on both sides of the border.
