Multiple States Demand Recall of Hyundai and Kia Cars Over TikTok Theft Concerns

Attorneys general from 17 states are demanding that Hyundai and Kia recall millions of cars due to the ease of theft of certain models that were sold without engine immobilizers. While the Korean brands have issued software fixes to prevent further thefts, the attorneys general feel they haven't done enough. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims a federal recall isn't possible in this situation, as thefts are criminal offenses under local police jurisdictions.
