Google will bring its Gemini AI to the regular Pixel 8 smartphones through Gemini Nano, a version of the model designed to run locally on personal devices. This decision follows the successful rollout to the Pixel 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S24. The Pixel 8's Tensor G3 chip is designed to enhance AI performance, and the on-device Gemini will be available in the next Pixel Feature Drop as a developer preview. Gemini Nano will power features such as an improved Gemini-powered summarize tool in the Recorder app and Gboard’s Smart Reply toolset. Additionally, Apple is reportedly in talks to bring Google’s AI to iPhones, while Gemini's image generation feature remains on pause due to accuracy issues.
