Google Maps Introduces Swipe Gesture for Full-Screen Map Viewing

Google Maps on Android and iOS no longer allows users to tap to hide the search bar and other UI elements. Instead, users must now swipe up on the search bar to accomplish this action. While Google argues that this new gesture is more intuitive as it allows users to act upon what they want to get rid of, some users find it less convenient and less common compared to the previous tap gesture. The change has been rolled out on all Android and iOS devices.
