Microsoft's next major system update, codenamed Hudson Valley, was initially rumored to be Windows 12 but is now expected to be a significant overhaul for Windows 11, set to roll out as "version 24H2" later this year with new features, AI and non-AI, including Copilot, Snap Layout, File Explorer, Quick Settings, Phone Link, and an Energy Saver mode, along with performance, security, UX, and quality-of-life improvements. The update will also see the removal of built-in legacy apps such as Cortana, Mail, Calendar, Maps, People, Movies & TV, and potentially Wordpad in a future update.
