The Debate Over Mid-Gen Upgrades for Xbox and PS5 Continues

Rumours suggest that Sony is planning to launch a mid-gen PS5 upgrade in late 2024, which could put it in line with when Xbox launched its mid-gen Xbox One X in 2017. While it's unclear if Xbox will follow suit, it's possible that they may want to compete with PlayStation on cutting edge console tech. However, with Xbox Series X not having been put through its paces yet, an upgrade may not be necessary. Microsoft's 'Xbox Series' branding also lends well to developing 'alternate' options rather than super powerful boxes, such as the popular Xbox Series S.
