343 Industries has announced a major update for Halo: Master Chief Collection, introducing new content, quality-of-life improvements, and modding enhancements. The update includes the addition of an 8-player Firefight mode with seamless drop-in-drop-out functionality, as well as the inclusion of Firefight in the Custom Games Browser. Other updates include the activation of Theater mode for Halo 4's campaign and Spartan Ops, custom gamepad remapping, new gametypes, background video selection, and the introduction of lost content from Halo: CE and Halo 2 on PC through a partnership with the Digsite group. The update comes amidst 343's ongoing efforts to revive Halo Infinite and follows the recent launch of Season 4, which failed to make a significant impact.
