League of Legends introduces new Emerald rank and major ranked system changes.

Riot Games is introducing a new Emerald rank between Platinum and Diamond in League of Legends' ranked mode to balance the rank distribution percentage. The developer is also removing promotional series from the ranked climb and reducing the number of placement games from 10 to five for the second split of the year. These changes will make it easier to get a rank and move up the ladder, providing a more accurate representation of the player base. The changes are expected to go live when Split Two begins after the first split ends.
