"Former GTA Developer Reveals Truth Behind San Andreas' Mysterious Plane Crashes"

A former Rockstar developer, Obbe Vermeij, has finally explained the random glitch in GTA San Andreas that caused small planes to crash. He revealed that issues with the planes spawning and the code itself occasionally caused the planes to perish, as the code looked for obstacles in the plane's path but sometimes failed to detect thin obstacles. Additionally, planes would sometimes lose height after being generated, and collision would be loaded after the plane had already been created, resulting in doomed flight paths. Despite considering removing fly-bys entirely, Vermeij did not, and the random plane crashes have been seen as comedic relief in the GTA community.
