Square Enix has explained a plot hole in Final Fantasy 7 Remake by revealing that Aerith has vague memories of future events due to her multiverse self already knowing Cloud. The Whispers, strange ghost monsters, are attempting to undo and "correct" plot changes, sapping some of Aerith's future memories. The game's sequel, titled Rebirth, is confirmed to be a trilogy, with the second part set to release this winter.
