AI and Thermal Cameras Can Easily Crack Passwords, Study Shows.

Artificial intelligence technology can crack any kind of seven-character password in just six minutes, even if the password contains symbols, according to a study by Home Security Heroes. The company used a generative AI service called PassGAN to run through 15,680,000 common passwords from the Rockyou dataset to determine how long it would take to crack them. The study said 65% of common passwords could be cracked in less than an hour, and 81% of common passwords can be cracked in less than a month. To protect passwords, users need to update them regularly and ensure the strength of their passwords is long-lasting.
