Sega of America Employees Unionize in Video Game Industry Trend

Workers at Sega of America's Irvine office have filed for a union vote with the National Labor Relations Board, partnering with the Communications Workers of America to form the Allied Employees Guild Improving Sega (AEGIS). The unit includes 144 roles across departments, and is looking to secure higher base pay, improved benefits, clearly outlined promotion and advancement plans, balanced schedules, and adequate staffing to end patterns of overwork. The unionization push in the video game industry has largely been led by QA workers and indie studios, and is a reflection of a wider movement in the United States as workers take on bosses at major corporations.
