Mariners DFA Struggling Pitcher Chris Flexen

The Seattle Mariners have designated right-hander Chris Flexen for assignment, giving them a week to trade him or pass him through waivers. Flexen signed a two-year deal with the Mariners after a successful stint in the KBO in 2020, but his results this season have been poor, with a 7.71 ERA in 42 innings. The Mariners will likely have to swallow some or all of his remaining $4.1 million contract to facilitate a trade, and Flexen can reject an outright assignment while retaining his whole salary.
