Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) fractured his femur at a parade celebrating the University of Connecticut’s men’s basketball team winning the 2023 NCAA Championship. He is expected to undergo routine surgery and has expressed optimism for a full recovery. The injury occurred when a person recording him at the parade tripped and fell on him. This comes weeks after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) suffered a concussion and broken rib from a fall at a private dinner. Blumenthal did not say how long he expects to be out of work.
