Former NBA star Shawn Kemp has been charged with first-degree assault for allegedly firing a gun in a Tacoma shopping mall parking lot while trying to recover stolen property. Kemp claims the act was in self-defense. No one was injured during the incident. Kemp's arraignment is set for May 4, and he plans to plead not guilty. The former Seattle SuperSonics player was previously arrested for drug possession in 2005 and misdemeanor marijuana possession in 2006.
