Depew Mayor Successfully Removes No Right on Red Restriction at George Urban and Transit Intersection

The State Department of Transportation has approved the request made by Depew Mayor Kevin Peterson to remove the "no right on red" restriction at the intersection of George Urban Boulevard and Transit Road. The restriction had caused frustration among drivers, as the green arrow only stayed on for about 20 seconds, resulting in unnecessary delays. Peterson had contacted the DOT after witnessing a car pass several vehicles waiting at the light and make the right-hand turn onto Transit Road, which he deemed unsafe. This is the second time Peterson has requested the removal of the restriction, with the DOT denying his previous request last year.
