Robotic swarms bloom into adaptive building facades

Princeton researchers built a 40‑unit swarm of modular SGbots that sense light and bloom a thin plastic sheet to adapt façades and interior spaces; demonstrations include autonomous shading of an office window and interactive, gesture-controlled displays, with future work focusing on real‑world deployment feasibility and more sustainable materials.
