The Royal Society Publishing Photography Competition has announced the winner, showcasing the hidden microscopic world on an autumnal leaf. The competition celebrates the power of photography in conveying scientific phenomena. The categories included Astronomy, Behavior, Earth Science and Climatology, Ecology and Environmental Science, and Microimaging. The overall winner captured a microorganism on a leaf, while other notable entries featured a tussle between rattlesnakes, a school of fish above a coral reef, and a crack in the Corinth Canal. The competition was launched in 2015 to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society, the oldest continual scientific journal in the world.
