Indra: SpainSat NG 2 a total loss after space particle strike

Indra Group writes off the SpainSat NG 2 military communications satellite after engineers concluded a space-particle/micrometeoroid impact caused nonrecoverable damage, preventing it from meeting its mission for Spain’s defense and allied governments. Launched in Oct 2025, the spacecraft was being moved to its geostationary orbit when the impact occurred at around 50,000 km altitude. SpainSat NG 1 remains operational, Indra is procuring SpainSat NG 3 (expected to be insured), and NG2 will stay in a stable but non-interfering orbit.
