'Starfleet Academy' series approved for production in 'Star Trek' franchise.

Paramount has officially announced the launch of "Starfleet Academy," a new "Star Trek" series that will follow the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets. The series will be set in the legendary place in the galaxy and will introduce a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. The series will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, with principal photography scheduled to start next year. The era of the series is yet to be revealed.
