Dangerous Drug Combination Found at Mt. Pleasant High School

Lucy Beckham High School in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, has seen a concerning increase in student drug use, including THC vapes, marijuana, and edibles resembling mainstream food items. The use of nicotine vaping devices remains a persistent issue, but an incident involving drugs laced with fentanyl has prompted the principal to raise the alarm. Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, is up to 100 times stronger than morphine and is becoming more prevalent in fake pills. The principal urges parents not to dismiss adolescent drug use and emphasizes the need for open conversations about substance abuse to prevent further harm. The school district offers resources through the Alcohol Drug and Alternative Programs for Teens (ADAPT) Program and is working with a local nonprofit to raise awareness.
