"Taiwanese Americans Return Home in Record Numbers to Cast Votes"

Taiwanese Americans, many of whom are dual citizens, are flying back to Taiwan to cast their votes in the presidential election, motivated by increasing tensions between Taiwan and China. Unable to vote by mail, these voters see their participation as a way to support freedom and democracy in the face of China's military pressure on Taiwan. This tradition has become a diaspora tradition for many first-generation Taiwanese Americans since Taiwan's first democratic presidential elections in 1996.
