Iranian Envoy Claims Natanz Strike by US-Israel, While IAEA Sees No Damaged Facilities

Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA, Reza Najafi, accused the United States and Israel of carrying out airstrikes against Iran’s Natanz enrichment facility, a claim that clashes with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s statement that the agency has found no indication Iran’s nuclear facilities have been damaged. Najafi spoke at a Vienna Board of Governors session, calling Western accusations of Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions a lie and urging condemnation of the strikes. The IAEA says it has had limited contact with Iranian authorities amid the conflict and has not detected abnormal radiation near borders; Natanz was previously attacked in 2020 by Israel with a U.S. follow-up strike. Iran maintains its enrichment program is peaceful.
