"Flaco, the Famous Central Park Zoo Owl, Dies in Tragic Accident"

Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl that escaped from the Central Park Zoo in February 2023, has died after apparently striking a building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The Wildlife Conservation Society, which operates the zoo, stated that Flaco was found on the ground after hitting a building on West 89th Street and was declared dead shortly after being retrieved by a rescue organization. A necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, and the society expressed hope for an arrest in the vandalism that led to Flaco's escape.
