"Severe Weather Causes Rolling Outages and Flooding Across Hawaiian Islands"

A low pressure system with an attached cold front brought heavy rain to Oahu, causing road closures, power outages, and the expectation of rolling outages across the island due to a shortage of reserve generation capacity. HECO reported thousands of customers without power and asked residents and businesses to conserve power during peak electricity use times. The Department of Emergency Management was partially activated as flooding and landslides were expected.
