Maine Braces for Torrential Rain and Severe Weather Warnings

Flash flood warnings have been expanded in Maine due to torrential rain, with residents advised to take precautions. Between two and four inches of rain has already fallen, and a widespread 2-3 inches is expected, with localized areas potentially seeing 4-6 inches or more. Flash flooding can occur with just 1.5 inches of rain within an hour. Rises in rivers and streams, as well as road washouts, are likely. There is also a chance of isolated severe storms, including weak tornadoes and damaging wind gusts.
