Kona Low Storm System: Preparations and Warnings for Heavy Rain and Flooding

Kaua'i County Officials are advising residents to prepare for the incoming Kona low, which is expected to bring heavy rain and possible strong thunderstorms from Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Nov. 30. Residents are urged to have emergency preparedness kits with a 14-day supply of food and water, as well as essential items like a battery-powered radio and flashlight. They should also check their property for potential flood threats, make an action plan with family members, and avoid non-essential travel and outdoor activities. Flash flooding is expected to impact the western islands of Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, and O'ahu, and certain areas may experience road closures and utility disruptions.
