Tragic Discovery: Deputy and Arrested Woman Found in Submerged Patrol Car

The body of Meigs County Deputy Robert "R.J." Leonard was found after he lost contact with dispatch, and a woman's body, believed to be the one he arrested, was also recovered in the vehicle after it went into a river. Officials suspect Leonard may have turned his vehicle into the river in the dark, and his last communication with his wife was a text message that said "water." Leonard, who had recently moved to the area, was described as a valued member of the sheriff's office.
