Tragic Death of Teen at Mississippi Poultry Plant

A 16-year-old boy died while operating equipment at a poultry plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The teenager, identified as Duvan Pérez from Guatemala, was a sanitation employee at the Mar-Jac Poultry processing plant. The company expressed condolences and stated that safety is their top priority. Both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division have opened investigations into the incident. Child labor violations in the U.S. have increased by 283% since 2015, according to a recent report.
