Plastic skull causes baggage screening halt at Salt Lake City airport

Baggage screening at Salt Lake City International Airport was temporarily halted when a plastic skull, resembling an improvised explosive device, was flagged as a potential security threat. The skull, which was being transported for a trade show in Mexico, turned out to be a medical training device for spine and neurosurgeons. TSA officials worked with law enforcement and explosives specialists to investigate the item, and operations were suspended for about two hours. The skull was not permitted to travel on a commercial aircraft and was retained by TSA for pickup upon the passenger's return.
