Tragic South Carolina Home Incident: Woman's Fatal Fall Down Hidden Well Shaft

An 83-year-old woman tragically fell to her death after stepping on rotting floorboards in a century-old South Carolina house and plummeting down a hidden well shaft. Rescuers took nearly four hours to retrieve her body from the 50-foot deep hole. The woman was helping her daughter move when the accident occurred. The Oconee County Coroner declared the death an accident, stating that he had never encountered a similar incident in his 31 years on the job.
